Adventure Training, North Wales 6th to 12th August 2016

The annual Squadron adventure training week has been arranged at Capel Curig from the 6th – 12th August 2016. Returning on the Friday to Sqn HQ Bassingbourn at about 1900 hrs.

The cost will be £150 which includes all travel, accommodation, meals, and payments to external professional activity providers (all costs over and above this will be met from Squadron funds).

Places are limited therefore I ask for a £70 deposit, payable by the end of April 2016 at the latest, with the remainder due at the end of June 2016.

Please make any cheques payable to “2484 Squadron ATC”.

Cadets will require suitable clothing for wild country activities; some clothing and equipment can be provided by the Squadron. A Kit List, Parental Consent and Medical forms are available on the Sqn website or in the office. The forms must be completed and handed to the Squadron by the end of April 2016 at the latest.

The purpose of the week is to give cadets an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities among: Mountain walking, wild country camping, canoeing/kayaking, mine exploration, high ropes, zip wire, rock climbing, and abseiling, etc. Though Capel Curig Training Camp (CCTC) is a military establishment no military clothing is allowed to be worn in the surrounding areas, so none need to be taken.

CCTC is dedicated to providing adventurous training facilities; it has good separate accommodation and ablution facilities for males and females, and all meals are provided in a modern canteen. The Squadron has been going to this camp annually for the last 15+ years.

Please Note: We have to pay from Squadron funds various activity providers well in advance, and in order not to prejudice the activity as a whole the Squadron cannot afford to refund any deposits or full amounts paid. In the event we would recommend that some form of holiday insurance be taken out on the part of the cadet. Holiday/Travel insurance can be taken out for a minor by yourselves for about £7.00 for a single trip (for example ‘Endsliegh Insurance’).

Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to either contact myself or Ken Stapleton (CI).
